that represents a period in time when fiber, such as yarn and string, were essentially taken off of the loom (figuratively) and placed into sculptures that were tremendously large in
scale, often ranging several floors of a building. This particular fiber sculpture is only 74 inches tall. It presents color in a very symmetrical manner, and also offers incredible texture
in the linear quality of the fibers which hang down and then puddle on the floor.. Eyes (1982) by Louise Bourgeois: This sculpture is very surreal, a style
that the artist was known for. It is a sculpture of two eyes, which are actually large round balls with indentations in them, atop a rough square-like pillar that is
squared on two corners and then somewhat rough and perhaps crumbled (intentionally) on the other two sides. It is marble and stands as a very powerful structure that hints at
surrealism. Bacchante and Infant Faun (1893-1894; this cast, 1894) by Frederick William MacMonnies: MacMonnies sculpture, which is somewhat older than most sculptures being described herein, is case from
bronze and is very fluid and romantic in nature as the naked woman seems to dance as she holds the infant faun. It is a very slender nude sculpture that
is also very active and speaks of mythology and fantasy. Standing Woman (1927) by Gaston Lachaise: Interestingly enough, this particular sculpture was modeled after Lachaises love. While he
was born in France, he fell in love with an American and as a young man followed her to America and never went back. This sculpture is one of a
