as such we cannot look to the environment of all individuals and expect to see something that is nothing but evil in a person. In the book "American Terrorist: Timothy
McVeigh" two journalists uncover much of McVeighs life and McVeigh himself, delving into the catastrophe that was the Oklahoma bombing. The following paper presents a summary and examination of
this book by Lou Michel and Dan Herbeck. Summary and Examination First off this book reveals that McVeighs childhood was not particularly unusual. His parent split up but
he grew up in a relatively loving normal home with even a loving grandparent. He did experience some arguing in the family, as well as bullying at school, but not
so much as to turn him into a demon that would later bomb and kill. He had friends and interests that were essentially fairly normal according to all the material
gathered by the authors of this work. In 1988 he joined the military and was actually decorated during the Persian Gulf War. After the war, or when he returned
home, he was given an opportunity to be a part of the Green Berets but he did not make it due to the rigorous physical training necessary. These events left
him depressed and feeling quite aimless according to the book, but certainly do not point to his becoming a devil. It was a few years later that he ended
up reuniting with one of his buddies, a buddy who would take an active part in the bombing in Oklahoma. These two men, McVeigh and Terry Nichols, began to plot
