they have hundreds of operations at local and state levels. The organization has 800 chapters across the U.S. (The American National Red Cross, 2006). More than a million people volunteer
with the Red Cross (The American National Red Cross, 2006). The Red Cross has many alliances and partnerships at local, state, national and international levels. They have extended their interests
into many diverse areas, although every operation is for the purpose of helping people. In May 2005, for instance, the American Red Cross signed an alliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety
& Health Administration) (OSHA, 2005). Together, they will work to train employers and employees "to respond to disasters, life threatening injuries and emergencies" (OSHA, 2005). They will also provide informational
materials and guidance about preparing for emergencies, preventing diseases and providing first aid in the workplace (OSHA, 2005). Two emphases are limited English speaking persons and youth workers (OSHA, 2005).
In January 2006, the American Red Cross "signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Operation HOPE, Incorporated" (The American National Red Cross, 2006). The two organizations will cooperate to provide economic
and financial counseling to persons who live in disaster areas and who have been affected by it, including small businesses (The American National Red Cross, 2006). The organization distributes tens
of thousands of pounds of food every day on an international level (Gillespie, 2003). In 2003, the Red Cross joined "the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)
and other humanitarian organizations" (Gillespie, 2003) to address the millions who go hungry in the world each day (Gillespie, 2003). In their own international food program, the organization also provides
