family. This is primarily the basis for the organization known as the American Decency Association. The following paper examines this organization from different angles. General Information and History
The American Decency Association is an organization that is not associated with any government organization. It is a non profit organization that essentially gets its funding from contributions. It gains
its support through Christian members and through other organizations who fight for the same causes. The history of this organization is a bit confusing as some people say they
were originally called the American Family Association, though that group appears to have different origins or a different history. This is likely due to the fact that the American Decency
Association is perhaps a branch off from the American Family Association. The best description of the history of this organization is as follows: "ADA first began as a local anti-pornography
organization in 1985. It was called Citizens Against Pornography" (American Decency.org, 2003). Interestingly enough, we find that there are many such named organizations in existence today. They are spread around
the country and are, for the most part, not directly affiliated with the American Decency Association. Then, "In 1986, the fledgling organization affiliated with the National Federation for Decency
as a local chapter. Its name: Newaygo County National Federation for Decency" (American Decency.org, 2003). One year later, "due to the success of the local chapter, Bill Johnson, was
named the first state director for President Donald E. Wildmon and his National Federation for Decency. Our name became the National Federation for Decency of Michigan" (American Decency.org, 2003). At
