informed choices. What is college accreditation? According to Greenberg (1999), the public has little understanding of, or concern about, why and how we accredit higher-education institutions. The average person is
unaware, for instance, that accrediting agencies are voluntary associations run by groups of educational institutions that review and evaluate each other, based largely on what the
institution under review says about itself. Thus leaving a process, again according to Greenberg (1999), "that hides an institutions advantages and disadvantages." According to Honan (1998) accreditation
review also demands proof of an institutions fiscal stability and the ability to attract a sufficient number of students. It would seem like this would be a good thing,
