as a value chain (Porter, 1985). He divided this into five separate sections; inbound logistics, operations, outbound logistics, marketing and sales, and service (Porter, 1985). These different activities are
also linked by the same support activities, there are four of these, but they can be seen to be active throughout the entire value chain, they are firm infrastructure, human
resource management, technological development and procurement (Porter, 1985). There are many areas this can be examined, looking at each of the five sections examples may be seen. Inbound logistics is
seen with the way that economies of scale are realised, large consignments can be ordered and it is possible to gain good discounts on the basis of the order size.
The model of sales includes sales that are made from goods sent to the large warehouses the company owns, however, there s also the ale of goods that are sent
directly from the manufacturer, in which case there is a total avoidance of any needs for these goods to pass through Amazons own premises. A similar model may be argued
as existing with the marketplace sellers, thee goods are sold on the Amazon site, Amazon takes a fee and never has to deal with the inbound, or any other aspect
of the stock management and dispatch. The operations may also be seen as effective. The website itself may be seen as an effective tool, it acts as a method
