photography? The nature of photography means that it is inextricably linked to technology. However, the history of photography and its technological development also means that from its earliest beginnings,
technological innovation has also enabled the work of amateurs, as well as professionals. George Eastman, in 1884, set upon his quest to "make photography an everyday affair, and four years
later, the Kodak Camera appeared on the market with the slogan, "You push the button, we do the rest,...the era of amateur photography was born" (Persinger, 2007, p. 10).
