for they live with the disease consciously, never losing the knowledge or understanding of what is actually going on. This is not to say that the Alzheimers patient does not
suffer an incredible amount of suffering, but they often forget their pain and condition, whereas the caregivers and loved ones never forget. In the following paper we examine the effects
that Alzheimers disease has upon family and caregivers. Alzheimers "In Alzheimers disease and other dementias, problems with memory, judgment, and thought processes make it hard for a
person to work and take part in day-to-day family and social life. Changes in mood and personality also may occur" (Anonymous Early Alzheimers Disease, 2002; alzcons.htm). It is believed that
somewhere between 2 to 4 million individuals "have dementia associated with aging. Of these individuals, as many as two-thirds have Alzheimers disease" (Anonymous Early Alzheimers Disease, 2002; alzcons.htm). At
the present time there is no cure for Alzheimers though symptoms can be relieved to a degree with certain medications. The symptoms that are most likely involved with treatment are
wandering and incontinence (Anonymous Early Alzheimers Disease, 2002). It has been found that "The earlier the diagnosis, the more likely your symptoms will respond to treatment" (Anonymous Early Alzheimers Disease,
2002; alzcons.htm). Another aspect of Alzheimers that can be treated somewhat successfully is depression: "Depression can occur in older persons, especially those with physical problems. Symptoms include sadness, inactivity, difficulty
