many cases, it must be decided who will live and who will likely die as it relates to the technology. For example, the ability to give someone who is seriously
ill the possibility of a longer life through a transplant is not necessarily just a simple matter of considering how long they have been waiting on a list, or how
likely they are to die without a transplant. In essence, it is a choice that involves far more than medical conditions but rather a decision that takes many moral, ethical,
and personal issues into mind. The following paper examines the allocation of specialized health services, transplants, as seen through various articles presented by the student requesting this paper.
Allocating Health Services The student requesting this paper asks, "What factor(s) should we take into account when deciding how to allocate exotic life-saving
technology, and why?" It seems that in the articles presented by the student there was little, if any, talk of money and whether that should be a factor. But, the
truth is that it is a very important factor for people without any insurance or money will be the first people to be eliminated when deciding who gets the life
saving technology. This may seem cruel but the doctors and hospitals surely do not work for free and as such monetary issues are clearly considered when determining who would get
such exotic treatments. It just so happens that this is not a topic that is seen as tasteful when considering someones life or death. But, it is clearly one that
