can actually see alligators in the gutters and even next to the freeway. They are a fascinating animal that is also very dangerous to humans. The following paper provides a
general overview of the alligator. Alligators 1. What kingdom is your organism in? The alligator is part of the animal kingdom because it is not a plant
or a mineral but a living animal. 2. Where does your organism live? They do not live all around the United States. They are confined to the south
and the southeastern states in the country. The states that they are found in are as follows: "Southeastern United States: Alabama, Arkansas, North & South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi,
Oklahoma, Texas" (Britton, 2002). 3. How does your organism reproduce? The male and female alligators engage in mating behavior that involves a lot of physical activity such as
slapping the tail and "snout and back rubbing" (Britton, 2002). The female then builds a nest where the eggs will be safe from drowning but yet close enough to the
water so that when the eggs hatch the baby alligators can get to the water quickly (Britton, 2002). A female can lay anywhere from 20 to 50 eggs (Britton, 2002).
