craft that are essential to success. The following is a summation of a specific reading from Allens book, which begins with the introduction to Section Three, Chapter 6. This
reading begins with the introduction to this section, in which the author presents the centrality of theological interpretation to Christian practice, as he argues that "pastor is not the only
theologian in an congregation," and, indeed, "all Christians should be theologians" (Allen 63). Then, Allen briefly indicates the content of the chapters that are to follow, stating that Chapter 6
is concerned with the "nature and purposes of the sermon," while chapter 7 gives an overview to a theological method that encompasses three principal criteria for theological expression (Allen 63).
