somewhat feminine--and this will be argued later--it is quite interesting that in this society, cross-dressing is taboo. On a recent Dr. Phil show, the host berated a woman for actually
staying with, and having children with, a man who was a cross-dresser. One would think that this man was a murderer or committed some other similar offense as the anger
and hatred towards the individual who liked womens clothing showed through. In todays society, cross-dressing for men is considered sick. Cross-dressing for women is fine as most women today wear
what would be construed as male garb years ago. Cross-dressing, and the attitude toward it, is something that can provide clues to the masculine/feminine dichotomy in clothing styles. An
important aspect of cross-dressing is the way it offers a challenge to notions of binarity, and it does call into question the categories of "female" and "male" (Hollander, 1992).
