is filled with suspense, and is in the space horror sci-fi genre. The film contains special effects techniques and a few thrills. It is both fantastic and imaginative
in some respects. It is believable in some instances, and in others, it is ridiculously unbelievable. The story is of the members
of an intergalactic spaceship, the Nostromo. This ship is designed for carrying cargo, such as the millions of tons of mineral oil on the ship and for scavenging.
The ships mission is to get raw materials from planets that are far in outer space. Audiences were familiar with this genre by the time this film came along.
By the time this film came on the scene, the viewing audience had seen the "Star Trek" programs, and the "Star Wars" movie, not to mention the much earlier
"Lost in Space." Those previous shows made "Alien" believable up to a point. There are certain points that make the
film rather unbelievable. One would think that the ship has been abandoned, but it is not. However, it does contain a few crewmembers, but there are not many
of them. The technology of the ship is more advanced than one would think. The spaceship is filled with video systems. It contains control panels that rival
those of the Enterprise. There are computer-generated images on the screens. The ship is state of the art in some manners, but rather shabby in others. The
belly of the ship is dark and menacing. The computer system on the ship has been named "Mother." Mother reacts to a
