Am I Blue. The Writer Alice Walker is well known as a writer and an activist; in order to get credit for both of those, it is necessary to be
a thinker. Not just the "I think I will go shopping to day," type of thinking, but a "I wonder why this is the way it is" type of
thinking. That is what she does "out loud" in this essay. An essay usually has to have a beginning, middle, and end like any other written work,
but the thesis statement is not always obvious, certainly not as one begins reading, and often there is no real closure, or a place like the ones we as children
used to scrawl after our stories, marked, "the end." This is true in the "thinking piece," Am I Blue. It is important for the student to note, that creativity
