heroic persona is illustrated through an understanding of how she and her life exemplify the heroic journey cycle. The heroic journey
cycle starts with the call, and for Paul that call, from the beginning, was womens rights. Alice Paul is perhaps best remembered for her contributions in the passage of
the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution (About, Inc., 2004). Alice Paul grew up in New York, but left to attend college in England in 1906 (About, Inc., 2004).
"While she was pursuing these studies, she was also doing social work in the US and England and championing the cause of womans suffrage" (Fuentes, 1998). Upon graduation,
she returned to the U.S. to get her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania (About, Inc., 2004). It was just after graduation from this university that Paul and some
of her friends formed the Congressional Union for Woman Suffrage (About, Inc., 2004). Eventually, this organization would evolve into the National Womens Party by 1917, and this group relied
heavily upon Paul for leadership and guidance. In this way, Pauls calling was apparent (About, Inc., 2004). From a young woman she was heavily vested in womens interest
groups, quickly taking leadership roles in them (About, Inc., 2004). Pauls threshold could easily be considered her involvement in the Congressional
