from his terms, an approach he adopted with virtually every challenge he met throughout his life. His academic pursuits moved him in the direction of science which complemented his
innate interest in experimentation; he created his first invention at the age of twelve.1 b. Family Life Bell was the second of
three sons of Alexander Melville Bell and Eliza Grace Symonds, musician and daughter of a Royal Navy surgeon. Both brothers died of tuberculosis, which prompted Bells father to move
the family to Ontario in order to prevent the same fate to his remaining son whose own health was weakening under the strain of his ever-growing career. Bell eventually
married a deaf student he had tutored by the name of Mabel Hubbard.2 c. Education Bell dropped out of high school but
received his higher education at the universities of Edinburgh and London.3 d. First Invention Believing there had to be an easier way
to do many different tasks people undertake in a days time, Bell realized his first success in making life a bit less arduous with his dehusking machine that employed nailbrushes
