substances has seriously tainted Major League Baseball. Steroid use, which a decade ago was considered a taboo violated by a few renegade sluggers, is now so rampant in baseball that
even pitchers and wispy outfielders are juicing up--and were talking openly among themselves about it. These illicit substances elevate the bodys testosterone level, increasing muscle mass without changes in diet
or activity. However, their effect is greatly enhanced when used in conjunction with proper nutrition and strength training. Now, many players have either admitted (e.g. Mark McGwire, Jason Giambi and
Rafael Palmerio) or are on trial (e.g. Roger Clemens) for using performance enhancing drugs while playing major league baseball. One of the more notable players who recently admitted was New
York Yankees 3rd baseman Alex Rodriguez. Some have said Rodriguez, as well as the other who have admitted that they have used these substances, should be banned from baseball. This
essay will examine those contentions while arguing that despite his inexcusable behavior, he should still be able to play the game. Like millions of other Americans, he made a mistake
