Reverend Al Sharpton are two larger than life figures in New York Citys metropolitan area, but they are at odds. While Guiliani has a legitimate place in the citys government,
Sharpton is an activist and leader of the black community. Most conservatives claim that Sharpton is an opportunist. They ask where he was when the city was in chaos, which
was a time when Guiliani stepped up to the plate and became a hero? Does Sharpton only show up when there are African Americans involved? They ask whether or not
one can take Sharpton seriously when he was involved with the Tawana Brawley case, the incident where a young black woman claimed to have been raped by white officials. In
the end, she made the story up. Yet, Sharpton is here to stay and he, in his own right, fights for the underdog.
He has been in New York for quite awhile and while he and Guiliani are juxtaposed on many issues including how the NYPD acts in respect to how it treats
the black community, Guilianis days are numbered anyway. Still, one can look at both sides of the police issue in New York through the views of these two men. Can
there be a compromise? Will the two men ever see eye to eye on racial issues? And even if by some miracle Sharpton and Guiliani were to agree on anything,
the mayors stint is almost over. How will Sharpton fare with a new man in charge? In order to evaluate these questions, the
