of the airports was demonstrated on that horrific day. Since that time, people have been complaining that if the U.S. were vigilant about such things like Israel, the terrorist attacks
on September 11th might not have occurred. For example, it seems that the cockpit doors are not secure as they are on El Al, and security measures at airports are
rather lax. Of course, when the government did get tough, and people reported their discomfort when traveling with Middle Eastern men, for example, there were charges of racism. Since that
time, racial profiling has also been a concern. It seems that as far as security is concerned at the nations airports, there is a sense that people want to
be safe, but they do not want to give up privacy or sacrifice convenience. This is particularly true of business travelers who feel they cannot afford to waste a lot
of time, even though additional screenings could improve safety. Also, 9/11 seems to be an aberration. While the U.S. has never been attacked prior to that day on such a
scale, it has not been attacked since either. Still, security continues to be a relevant issue in the lives of the American people. While many people are happy about the
new attention to safety, others are upset. In recent times, as a result of new policies, officials often target innocent people to make it appear that profiling is not occurring.
They pat down a ninety year old woman in a wheel chair and look through baby gear. They do things like examine peoples sandals and moccasins due to tips they
