realize that their lifestyles have contributed to the dilemma facing citizens of the world. But the consequence of adapting to a lifestyle that runs on fumes is one that can
hurt living beings and future generations. While the advent of the automobile is problematic, it is not the ordinary private car that seems to be the worst offender. Further, China
is one of the hardest countries hit, and that nation is not known for its abundance of automobiles. While the world has
the dilemma, China has been affected in significant ways. The problem of air pollution in China consists of deteriorating urban air quality and significant levels of contaminants that cause acid
rain (Wang 176). Industrial cities like in northwestern China are particularly hit hard and the culprit is sulfur dioxide from coal, which is burned for everything from creating electricity to
making dinner (Rather and Petersen PG). How does China compare with the rest of the world? China, for example, produces twice as much sulfur dioxide as does America (PG).

to find, there are hidden and serious health effects of living in an area where there is a lot of air pollution.
