Murray (2005) reports the core values/enduring principles of the Air Force: "Integrity First, Service before Self, and Excellence in All We Do" (p. 5). These principles guide everything every member of any air force unit does (Murray, 2005). These reflect the organizational culture the Guard attempts to create in all units. Alongside that is the responsibility of the Air Force to provide the necessary training to allow each Airman to be successful (Murray, 2005). Intensive training is provided to each person along a type of career path, thus, personnel are exposed to different training at different points in their career (Murray, 2005). To keep current, instructions regarding the Structure of enlisted personnel were revised in 2004 (Murray, 2005). The structure of the Air Force allows members to be trained for leadership position (Murray, 2005). The Air National Guard is especially responsible for assuring all members are trained well enough for the unit to be activated at a moments notice (Princeton Review, 2005). Any unit may be called into action by federal or state officials to provide support and to carry out missions when needed (Princeton Review, 2005). In response to world and domestic events as well as to the changes in society, the Air National Guard is changing. The increasing diversity of the population, for instance, is being addressed. This diversity is reflected in both military and civilian personnel in the Air National Guard. One significant change in culture for any military organization is the Guards attempt to solicit input from its members. In late 2005, Air Force officials began collecting responses to the 2005 Air Force Climate Survey (National Guard, 2005).
