merger is not a good one. There have been so-called "horror stories" which have emerged in the midst of the Air Canada-Canadian Airlines alliance (Walker PG). There are claims of
improper pricing, problems with staffing levels, unreasonable check-in times and much more (PG). Other charges include that the company had cut back on flights to maximize profits, bumping an inordinate
number of passengers along the way (PG). Lost luggage has been another problem with Air Canada of late (PG). Transportation Minister David Collenette said: "Air Canada has got a lot
of explaining to do with some of the things that they have done" (PG). How does Air Canada respond to the criticism? The company claims that the problems are not
indicative of a major problem, but merely a part of the integration process (Walker PG). Indeed, merging has become a pastime in all industries of late and there are often
bumps in the road. Many people do not realize that merging companies requires the integration of two corporate cultures along with problems of duplication. One can imagine that there would
be a time period where things would need to be ironed out, and time would be needed for employees to better comprehend their roles. The complaints however may be indicative
of a Rocky transition. And there have been problems. Pilots and flight attendants have had their own complaints and there have been difficulties regarding the unions role in the merger
