information on using this paper properly! When they first surfaced, air bags were praised for saving lives, but now they are more likely to
be shunned because they go off during minor incidents, leaving victims with burns or scrapes (Winter PG). This phenomenon has created a flood of law suits. While some legal action
is expected for any product, a $64 million class-action judgment against DaimlerChrysler Corporation, for an accident that slightly burned a womans hand, took industry observers by surprise (PG). While
law suits will surface in any business, one has to wonder whether or not the invention of air bags is truly a blessing or a curse. There have been a
slew of accidents, children killed, and consumers injured either due to misuse or faulty design. Parents are warned not to allow young children in the front seat of an automobile
due to the danger of the air bag. In fact, the National Traffic Safety Administration did admit that even when a child is properly buckled in a front-seat belt, he
or she may in fact be killed by an air bag ("In the" 2). The agency explained that children under 13 should not ride in the front of the
vehicle (2). When parents allow young children up front, they are putting the lives of their offspring in danger and they have already been warned of this. But
should the fault of some negligent parents be grounds for banning a product which has saved hundreds of lives? Another point is that the front seat, next to the driver,
