donate their eggs or sperm to help infertile couples have a child, others believe it is much like giving up a child for adoption, giving up a part of ones
person. There are also health concerns involved as well. The following paper examines the issues and offers a personal argument against donating ones eggs or sperm. Against the
Donation of Ones Eggs or Sperm There are always two sides to social issues that plague the nation. In the case of donating sperm or eggs many would argue that
it helps people to conceive, helps people to fulfill their dreams, and allows people to have children when they could not otherwise have children. In truth, this is about it
for the positive side to donating eggs or sperm. It is clearly a personal issue and one that brings into play many different things, not the least of which is
risk. For men it is simple, they masturbate into a sterile cup and they are essentially done donating sperm (What Does Sperm Donation Involve?, 2009). For women, however, there are
risks because it involves taking fertility drugs to increase the viable eggs, and then a surgical procedure to extract the eggs from the ovaries (State of New York Department of
Health, 2009). With an understanding of the procedure and why people would be willing to donate, the remainder of the paper offers a personal perspective against donating sperm or eggs.
