the elusive answer. Have homeless animals been given the respect such overwhelming contributions as unconditional love and diehard loyalty demand? Can humanity
ever get past the point where it views the animal kingdom as nothing more than a collection of living beings who exist solely to support mans needs? These questions
are posed in a significantly introspective light with regard to the typically uncaring attitude that is associated with euthanasia. The most surprising realization of all is how there truly are
enough homes in which to place the homeless animal population, however, it requires a bit of ingenuity to flesh out these available adopters. Consider when a mother cat and
her kittens are trapped in a burning building; the mother escapes but goes right back in to retrieve her babies - one at a time. Singed whiskers, oozing burn
sores and on medication for respiratory ailment, the momma cat receives spotlight coverage on the nightly news to proclaim the heroism of this little feline. Soon the phones at
the animal shelter are ringing off the hook with people clamoring to adopt her and the kittens, hundreds more potential adopters than are necessary to find loving homes for the
heretofore homeless feline family. After the attention dies down and the cats are placed, what happened to the rest of the callers who obviously had room in their hearts
