concerns in American health. Those that live in some geographic area and, indeed, some races, are more susceptible to these diseases than is the typical mainstream American. HIV
and AIDS used to be diseases believed to be transmitted solely between men in acts of homosexuality. It is now known, however, that these diseases can be transmitted in
a variety of ways and that, while no one is immune from them, certain individuals are more prone to contracting them than are others. The thesis might be presented
that this increased susceptibility among certain groups can be explained by a lack of understanding of the diseases and the failure to take preventative measures against contraction or, indeed, the
