He and his brother are victims of a very depressing childhood. Wade now finds himself, as an adult, truly experiencing problems which indicate that running from his past has not
worked as he seems to sink further and further into a form of madness. In the following paper we examine the character of Wade and discuss a possible treatment plan
using Adlerian theories. Wade Wade, unlike his brother, is aggressively trying to run away from his past, the past involving a very abusive alcoholic father, by living near
his father and forcing himself to struggle against that past. He promises himself that he will never be like his father. This is a very difficult position to take in
light of the fact that the past is never dealt with but fought every single day in subtle ways. So, while he is trying to run away from it, he
is actively battling it every day as well. He is perhaps trying to find a place for himself, a place where he can be the opposite of his father by
denying that truth in the past. Then comes a point when he cannot ignore the role played by his father in his development. Nor can he deny the existence
of his father. At one point he goes to see his father and sees that his mother is dead while his father, too drunk to notice, sits. Wade tries to
help his father come to terms with the death of his wife, but Wade is in no position himself to truly come to terms with the realities of his past
and his present. It becomes time to intervene if there is to be any hope for Wade, for he can no longer run away and be productive. If he wishes
