of the old and new types may be noted in the context of television. The old analogue television possibility is coming to an end in early 2009, forcing everyone to
own digital television sets. While in the media, the idea of digital is often propped up as better than analogue, which is thought to be old, the truth is that
the two communication types exist simultaneously. Analogue is a term used to refer to the relationship between a copy of something, and the original thing (Poster, 2001). A taped
recording for instance is able to transform waves in respect to air that is emitted by an individual (Poster, 2001). For example, a person speaks but that speech is
saved to a tape or some other physical object. This type of technology, or communication, may be equated with the old vinyl record (Poster, 2001). The grooves of the record
form analogues and reproduce the sounds shape (Poster, 2001). In regard to images, analogues are aligned with light and the recording medium (Poster, 2001). Digital reproduction is different (Poster,
2001). When it comes to digital reproduction, the sound are waves and they are moving about forty thousand times per second (Poster, 2001). The computer actually transitions the input
to a number of zeros and ones accordingly (Poster, 2001). Computers in fact take all information down to that level. When it comes to digital recording, there is no resemblance
or analogy between digits and sound (Poster, 2001). The digits do not appear to be sound, or as Poster (2001) puts it, they do not "look like" sound. In either
case-digital and analog-there is a transformation of the material from the original version (Poster, 2001). Of course, there is a vast difference between analog and digital communication. The technologies
