financially secure or "well-off," with most of her money coming from her husbands income as a banker. Both of Marges parents are still living, but they divorced before Marge was
married, and Marge related the fact that her relationship with her mother is strained. Repeatedly in the course of the initial interview, Marge discussed problems with her mother.
She stated one time that she has a "difficult" relationship with her mother and has had trouble with her mother for her entire life. Approximately 1/2 hour into the
session, when discussing memories of her childhood, Marge noted that she had few memories of her early childhood but that she endured a problematic relationship with her mother, whom she
described as "selfish, jealous of her success in life, and self-centered." Marge noted problems with her physical health and a sense
of impending "dread" that corresponded with physical complaints. Marge is a slightly overweight woman who stated that she had trouble with arthritis. A quick visual assessment did not
result in any notable physical appearance of arthritis, no evidence of immediate swelling or joint disfiguration, though Marge did sit slightly stooped and crossed her arms in front of her
chest, perhaps indicative of a desire for protection from contact that may be painful. Marge did not shake my hand at the onset of the meeting, nor did she
make significant eye contact during our discussion. When attempting to determine how much or how little Marge actually remembered about her childhood, I
