be the focus for some students, my undergraduate years will be a period of preparation for future learning and for a lifelong focus on learning necessitated by my career in
law. I am seeking an education at Springfield College because I believe it will prepare me for law school and for future learning. My long-term goal is
to develop a career in law after attending law school. There are two areas of law that are of the greatest interest to me and that bring together my
hobbies and personal interests with my career focus: family law and sports law. I expect to develop a career focus in one of these two areas of
law through the course of my experiences at Springfield College. Since childhood, my older sister had been struggling with mental illness, specifically bipolar
disorder. After a marriage, two children and a bitter divorce, she continues to struggle with finding a way to support her and her two children. My experiences
with my sister have made it clear that there are too few services for people with mental illness and a huge area in family law where these problems can be
addressed. I believe that as a family lawyer, I can help people with mental illness by becoming an advocate for people like my sister. I also hope to
provide a means through which families dealing with mental illness can make legislative impact and change public policies through their legal advocates. My
interest in sports law extends from my own experience as a member of the Junior Varsity and Varsity soccer teams at Medway High school and my general love of sports.
