your personal growth and development? I have always had a sense of the importance of education in directing learning as a part of personal growth. My family has always
been supportive of educational achievement, recognizing that learning gives a person the tools to expand their body of knowledge and create new experiences. At the same time, I was
not completely aware of how important education would be to my specific choices and in opening the doors to many different career choices. I hadnt realized how important learning
would be in helping me expand my communication skills and improve my ability to gather information, research and complete tasks. b. What was your
level of professional competence in problem solving, written and oral communication skills, information retrieval and utilization and collaboration? At the time I
started this course of study, I had already developed a high level of competence in many areas of my professional development. My military background relied heavily on problem solving
skills while making decisions for the troops and for the country as a whole. At the same time, I recognized that I had room for improvement and that there
was more to be learned. My military experience did give me specific tools that enhanced my early educational experience, including evaluative skills (brainstorming, assessment), research skills (information retrieval and
analysis) and collaborative skills. I believed at the time that all of these skills would aid me as a student and would support a positive learning environment for myself
and others. c. What were your career goals? My initial goal was to simply get a degree and complete school.
