I believe the Illinois Institute of Arts Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program in Interior Design will provide me with learning opportunities that will help guide me through a major
change in my professional life. I began working shortly after graduating from secondary school and have worked in a number of different fields. For the past 13 years,
I have worked in the travel industry, as an airline representative, giving me the opportunity to travel extensively and view different cultures. I was inspired by this work to
gain greater insight into different cultures and their impact on interior design. My fascination with interior design began to bloom. Though I believe my creativity, organizational skills, problem-solving
and my sharp eye for detail will all benefit me in my pursuit of a career in interior design, I lack the educational background, including an understanding of artistic and
professional skills, that separate true design professionals. I have the gift of insight that comes with maturity and understand that I have limitations. My greatest limitation is my
lack of education in the area of interior design and my need for effective communications skills to help me apply my design ideas to the needs of clients and expand
my business opportunities. I hope that my experience in the Interior Design program at the Illinois Institute of Art can
help me develop my creativity and technical skills and improve my ability to communicate my ideas to other professionals and my clients. One of the most significant benefits of
