Uniformed police officers are subject to many stressors in the completion of their official duties. They are also subject to tremendous
temptations. Of particular concern is the temptation to unfairly enforce the law and the temptation to take graft for looking the other way.
Uniformed police officers not only carry their own morals and ethics in their hands but they are put into the position of judging those of others. There is
always the possibility of police officers going wrong, of them abandoning the ethical principles upon which their profession is structured. Indeed, in some regards the police profession might be
considered extremely susceptible to falling into less than ethical behavior. They might become prejudiced against a particular group or individual, for example, or they might actually start taking money from
criminal entities so that they will look the other way rather than arrest those entities when they are committing crime. In
cases of police officers taking bribes or graft, the underlying issue is greed. In cases of discrimination, however, the underlying issue can be much more complex. Many aspects
