would be a disingenuous response as it specifies nothing. There are indeed reasons why WWII may be consider the best war America had. One important point is that Adolph Hitler
was stopped, and this is an area of great significance. The author notes that the time period was "a peak in the life of society when everything worked out and
the good guys definitely got a happy ending. It was a great war. For Americans it was the best war ever" (p.2). Of course, the author writes this tongue and
cheek. He is being somewhat sarcastic. The book is after all about the myth of this war that was perceived as wonderful. In reality, this war was hell. 2.
Why does the author call world World War II one of the most censored events in modern history? While the author claims that WWII was a great war as
perceived by the American people, it was also censored, but this was something that in part happened by chance. Adams (1994) does discuss the difficulties with reporting history as
generally speaking, history is not exciting. It is not sensational as are headlines that one sees plastered on television screens today. Rather, the facts are just the facts and only
some parts of history are exciting (1994). Generally speaking, history is distorted--and this includes WWII-- because there are many mundane facts to note and the public is bored. At
