the heroes of a story to some extent, yet they are also simply men in many ways. The heroes are, respectively, Aeneas and Achilles. They are, in some ways similar
in terms of their role in the stories, but they are also very different. The following paper compares and contrasts the two characters. Achilles and Aeneas Achilles is
a man who is all but unstoppable. He is perhaps the most infamous and strong of all warriors and many see him as immortal because he never fails. They follow
him, rather than the king and it is his word and actions that lead others on. In the case of Aeneas he is simply one single warrior. He does not
have a following necessarily, or not a following like Achilles, because he is simply a man. He does not appear unstoppable or immortal. Both men are doing what is
necessary in their particular calling. Achilles is fighting because that is what he does where Aeneas is fighting because he was told to, informed that this is what he should
be doing. For Achilles there seems to be no greater cause that he is fighting for as he does not appear to be incredibly loyal to any particular king or
reign of government. He is simply a warrior and that is what he does. With Aeneas he is fighting for his Rome, his people, his land. However, one could say
that although he is loyal to his people, and embodies all that is courageous for the Roman people, he is merely doing what he does as well, playing his role
as a warrior of sorts. The difference lies in the fact that Aeneas seems far more likely to listen to the suggestions and needs of others whereas Achilles is just
