Question 1 Part 1 Exceptional Properties are a UK based company. We have the consolidated profit and loss account as well as the notes to the profit and loss
accounts and the notes to the cash flow statement for 19X7 and 19X8. From this the directors of Ace Properties, the investors
in Exceptional properties wish to ascertain if they would be wise to invest a further five million. To look at this we need to consider the performance of the company,
this may also be assess against the back ground of increased investment in 19X8. The company has placed an investment in during both f these years, and we can assume
that the investment has been put into place in order to achieve a return. If we look at the most basic of figures, the turnover, we see that in
19X8 there was a large increase on 19X7. The turnover in 19X8 was, (all figures in thousands unless stated otherwise), ?120,976, compared to ?68,599 in 19X7.
This is an increase of ?53,537, or 76% (calculated by taking 53,537 which is the increase between 19X7 and 19X8, and dividing it by 68,599, the
19X7 figure and then multiplying it by 100). This is a large increase. However, if we look at the notes we can gain a further insight into the operations of
