we, as human beings, must accept death. Throughout the novel we see how the individuals who are left living are not happy or accepting of the deaths that occur around
them. Instead of accepting they engage in activities which bring things back to life. But, the life presented is not really living. As such one of the most powerful themes
within Kings novel is that of life and death and the acceptance of death. The following paper analyzes that theme. Accepting Death As human beings we all know
that people will die. We are perhaps surprised when someone who is young dies, or surprised when someone dies unexpectedly in an accident of some sort. These sorts of deaths
can make us angrier and more confused than the death of an elderly individual. But, still, we all know, in a very logical and rational manner, that people die, that
we will die, that everyone dies eventually. However, some people have a very difficult time dealing with that reality when it finally comes into their lives. And, some people, such
as the people in Kings novel, refuse to accept it and all but go insane trying to ignore the truth. The story starts out dealing with death simply enough. The
family cat is killed by a car on the highway. The neighbor asks "Louis if hed like to make his daughter happy. If hed like to have his cat back
again" (Epinions). Evidently there is a place, just beyond the pet cemetery, where ancient Native powers are at play. It is a place where anything that is buried comes back
to life. While Louis had no real deep need to have the cat back, he did have a curiosity that allowed the situation to take place. The cat comes
