it allows for general trends to be assessed and then the finds to be tested and more in-depth research to take place to add richness. However, if part of the
way through the research circumstances change and results are needed earlier there will need to be changes made to the schedule. There are two areas of research, the quantitative and
the qualitative. Changes can be made to both of these areas of research. It may be argued that if only one form of research was to be undertaken it
would be more reliable to undertake quantitative research. The company is assessing the viability of a new product for the market, with the target market being the commercial market. Therefore,
it is essential that the results gathered from the sample used may be seen as reliable and representative of the entire target market (Kotler, 2003). Where there is only a
small sample used there is a greater potential that the results may be biased or skewed due to the sample being unrepresentative of the population as a whole (Pallant, 2004).
The larger the sample the greater the potential that it will be representative of the entire population that is the subject of the research (Dancey and Reidy, 2002). There
is also less likelihood of the results being skewed due to usual answers for individual members. If the need to complete the research appears half way through the research
project most of the quantitative research will have been undertaken, this occurs at the point where the surveys are being replied to. As this has been proposed with the use
