itself, represents a positive move toward overall global advancement, but the costly social impact is what concerns sociologists. Is it too high a price to pay for such progress?
The end result has yet to be determined; however, what is clear is how children display overwhelming behavioral issues in direct relation to utilizing technology as a source of
identity, social networks and personal development. Conflict inherent to sociological elements of technology and childhood development can be found in the manner by
which children readily cultivate intangible relationships with faceless people without consciously acknowledging the abnormal deviant nature of such behavior. It can readily be argued that as beneficial and advantageous
as the Internet is in some aspects, there is a thin line that exists with regard to the significant social impact it carries. Indeed, Internet communication has virtually altered
the manner by which mankind interacts with his entire world; people who otherwise do not have the opportunity to connect are able to do so through such means as Web
sites, electronic mail and chat rooms; that a person can cultivate long-term friendships with someone he or she has never met offers a virtual safety net for socialization (Wright, 2001).
