it is incredibly easy to use someone elses work as ones own, or to use information and not cite it properly. While academic integrity can be violated unintentionally, there are
many students who simply want the easy way out, choosing to use the work of another rather than do the work themselves, or actually learn a particular topic of skill.
The following paper examines the importance of academic integrity. Academic Integrity One author notes, "Academic Integrity is a fundamental value of teaching, learning, and scholarship. Yet, there is
growing evidence that students cheat and plagiarize" (2009 CAI International Conference, 2009). As such it is important to understand academic integrity. "According to the Center for Academic Integrity there are
five fundamental values that characterize an academic community of integrity" and should be noted (Academic Integrity, 2009). The first is honesty. A student, and as well as anyone else, should
essentially be on a quest for truth and knowledge and this requires a sense of honesty in all aspects of life (Academic Integrity, 2009). A person who takes someone elses
paper, such as this paper, and turns it in as their own is being incredibly dishonest and not getting the point. A teacher could be academically dishonest as well, but
it is more common for a student to be as such. There is also the aspect of trust. A student should trust their teacher and a teacher should surely
be able to trust the student to do their own work, rather than turning in the work of someone elses just because it is easier. Fairness is another one of
the rules: "All interactions among students, faculty and administrators should be grounded in clear standards, practices and procedures" (Academic Integrity, 2009). In essence people should be treated equally and not
