how Lincoln affected the Civil War and how his actions and decisions shaped the nation for all history to come. Abraham Lincoln While President Lincoln may have wanted
to do more in his presidency than deal with the Civil War, the truth is that, "Abraham Lincolns presidency from beginning to the end with filled with nothing more than
trying to put and end to the Civil War. It began when he took office and ended towards the end of his life" (Abraham Lincoln and the Civil war, 2005).
When Abraham Lincoln became President his inaugural address stated clearly that the south needed to change or there would be war: "In
your hands, my dissatisfied fellow countrymen, and not in mine, is the momentous issue of civil war" (Abraham Lincoln [1]). Within a few months of his becoming President seven states
would secede from the Union and thus would indicate they did not care about his demands or his desires (Abraham Lincoln and the Civil war, 2005). "But Lincoln had a
