Disease is a neurological disorder; it belongs to "a group of conditions called movement disorders" ("What is Parkinsons Disease?"). There is no known cure, though symptoms can be alleviated greatly
through medication and/or surgery ("What is Parkinsons Disease?"). The cause is also unknown ("What is Parkinsons Disease?"). The disorder has four main symptoms: 1) tremor (trembling) in the arms, hands,
legs, head and jaw; 2) rigidity, or "stiffness of the limbs and trunk"; 3) "bradykinesia, or slowness of movement"; and "postural instability," meaning that the balance is impaired ("What is
Parkinsons Disease?"). The symptoms are very subtle, appearing gradually and growing slowly worse over time ("What is Parkinsons Disease?"). Its important to note that these symptoms can appear in other
diseases, and may not be associated with Parkinsons in all patients ("What is Parkinsons Disease?"). Parkinsons Disease or PD is chronic and progressive, meaning that it "persists over a long
period of time" and grows worse as time goes on ("What is Parkinsons Disease?"). The cause of the disease is not known; what is known is that its not contagious
and that it may be hereditary in rare cases, but most times appears to be sporadic (it doesnt run in families) ("What is Parkinsons Disease?"). Researchers now think that PD
