Since the term "arbitration" is very general, and in order to understand it, it was necessary to do a search specifying that the term was a legal one. There were
many results to the search query "What is arbitration," but one article not only explained it but gave examples of how arbitrations are handled. That is the article it seems
most beneficial to analyze. At its core, "arbitration is a form of dispute resolution. Arbitration is the private, judicial determination of a dispute, by an independent third party"; the proceeding
may be before an individual or a tribunal, which usually has an odd number of members to avoid a tie (What is arbitration? 2010). Arbitration is "an alternative to court
action (litigation), and generally, just as final and binding (unlike mediation, negotiation and conciliation which are non-binding)" (What is arbitration?, 2010). Having given a brief description of what it
is, the article goes on to discuss the general principles of an arbitration; the classifications of arbitrations; the advantages of arbitration over a court hearing; and the typical steps in
