elective abortion and the difficult chain of considerations leading up to a final decision, the morality of these intricate issues becomes a matter involving a great deal of personal thought,
as well as the larger societal or spiritual aspects. As the student writing about the sociological framework of the abortion debate, it will be important that he or she be
certain to consider those issues as well. The not-so-simple fact remains that, on the one hand, the pro-life faction sees pro-choice advocates as self-seeking, irresponsible people who would destroy
the life of an unborn child for personal comfort and convenience. The pro-choice faction sees pro-life advocates as rigid individuals who grant to themselves the right to dictate the course
of womens lives. Pro-choice advocates, uncertain about careers and futures, manipulate others with the image of the "back-street" abortion just as pro-life advocates, uncertain about the future of the family
in a highly competitive world, manipulate others with the image of the fetus. It is not a debate that is likely to reach any sort of closure or resolution any
time in the near future. Applying a Sociological Model Land (2001) explains that, in sociology, a very general and comprehensive definition for models are that they are: "... tools by
which individuals order and organize experiences and observations" (pp. 381). Therefore, the tool to be used in observing is one that should assist in the definition, construction, and interpretation of
