argue that it is a human being and as such to abort it is to murder a human being. Patrick Lee, in his book Abortion: Unborn Human Life, illustrates, through
philosophical arguments, that a fetus is a human life and as such ending its growth is killing a human life. The following paper argues in favor of Lees perspective.
Abortion: Unborn Human Life by Patrick Lee There are many who argue that until a fetus is viable on its own putting an end to its growth is not
murder. However, there are times when people abort a fetus that is further along than infants born prematurely. And, to claim that a fetus cannot live without its host, the
mother, is not necessarily a convincing argument in light of the fact that a newborn, desired, infant cannot survive without another human being to look after it either. In essence,
a fetus and a newborn require the "hosts" to take care of them in order to survive. Simply because it exited the womans body and breathed air does not mean
that this is necessarily the moment it became a human being worthy and deserving of life. In Lees work he notes that "The majority of biologists who discuss fertilization
and gestation of the embryo place the beginning of a new individual human being at fertilization" (Lee, 1996; 69). Interestingly enough, it is not biologists who are strongly religious in
any particular measure, and biologists are not necessarily part of the controversy in society concerning abortion. In all honesty they are merely scientists stating facts that are known. But, these
