Given the fact that man is a mere mortal, ethical egoists contend that he does not possess the inherent endowment to perform acts
of God. Indeed, it can readily be argued that altering the natural selection of childbirth through abortion is betraying the ethical and moral code by which humans live.
The decision of 1973s Roe v. Wade set an entirely new precedent upon how society would respond to the issue of abortion from that point forward. Described as "the
strongest, and in this sense, most radical Episcopal statement I have ever encountered" (Kelly 99), religious sects rose up and denounced the decision as "entirely contrary to the fundamental principles
of morality" and called for a constitutional amendment that would ultimately and immediately reverse it (Kelly 99). "The most prevalent rationale used to justify abortion in general is that
of preserving the presumed right of self-determination or autonomous choice. The pitfalls of too readily acceding to external preferences in settings fraught with intense emotions, ambiguity, and uncertainty have
