still many who argue that it should not be legal for it is essentially nothing short of murder. On the other hand there are many who argue that without legalized
abortion many women would seek them illegally and risk putting their lives at risk in the hands of individuals who may be less than skilled. The following paper examines abortion
as a moral issue, discussing the pros and cons. Abortion: A Moral Issue In all honesty both sides of the issue of abortion are arguing for the good
of an individual and of society as a whole. Those against abortion claim that, bottom line, it is murder and murder is wrong. Those in favor of abortion claim that
if women can obtain them legally they will be safer and that society will benefit from a reduced amount of impoverished or unwanted children. There have, in fact, been studies
that indicate since abortion has become legal there has been improvement in relationship to juvenile delinquency and inner city troubled youth due to the fact that less unwanted pregnancies are
taken to term, leaving a woman burdened with another mouth to feed. But, on the other hand, the fact that abortion is the cessation of a life indicates that morally
it is murder and thus morally wrong. Those who are against abortion may often base their standing on religion, saying that God does not approve of ending a life.
But, even without religion there is simply the truth that the unborn infant is a living and growing human being. There is no proof of when a fetus becomes a
