individual. However, if we merely put aside the fact that she may well be just a greedy and evil individual we can perhaps find a more specific reason for her
apparent lack of social control. In doing this we must examine what her particular mental illness may be. With that in mind the following paper examines aspects of Lady Macbeths
personality and possible diagnoses for her behavior. The paper also discusses what treatment may be necessary for Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth and Mental Illness Interestingly enough, many people,
when discussing Lady Macbeths mental state, refer to "Lady Macbeth sleepwalking and trying to wash blood off her hands" and thus claim that she is experiencing incredibly powerful feelings of
guilt (Trauma and Dreams). This could indicate, to many, that she is suffering from a form of psychosis. Others who focus on her washing of her hands indicate that "Today,
we might call her a victim of obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD" (KnoxNews.com). And, in the following we see yet another understanding of the idea of guilt: "A good example of
the effect which guilt has on the human individual is seen in Shakespeares Macbeth. Macbeth and his wife showed all the symptoms of what one might today diagnose as MPD,
