ability to move, to locate food, to find a mate, to pursue meaningful endeavors serves man well, it can also be said to work against him when he is forced
into an unnatural situation or environment such as the cockpit of an airplane. Auditory and motion perceptions are both effected when the pilot sits for a length of time in
the cockpit of an airplane and it can be said that these factors can be figured in to the incidences each year of reported pilot error and crash landings. "Pilots
have taken the subject of Spatial Disorientation far too lightly, state FAA experts. If one looks at the material presented on the test preparation for the Private Certificate and Instrument
Ratings and the questions on the FAA examinations, this subject is the easiest to respond accurately to and yet the least understood"(Kleimenhagen, Keones, et al, 2002). Part of the reason
it can be said that these problems are occurring is that despite mans better grasp of the academic world, he is still a mammal. Gifted with both auditory and visual
cues from which he imports data about his environment, a pilot who is not able to make use of these senses in the air is flying, in some respects, in
a handicapped capacity. The need to sense motion and sense it as quickly as possible can be said to place great demands on the human beings visual systems. Movement, then,
can be defined as a subtle by highly structured change in retinal illumination over space and over time(Shilling, Shinn, 2002). In other words, our eyes can play tricks on us,
and it is that very phenomenon that pilots must combat when fatigue and other factors begin to appear. Over the last several decades a lot of experimental research has studied
