order-to-delivery process. In the particular case study were analyzing, Subaru of America is the exclusive U.S. marketer of Subaru products that are
manufactured by Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. of Japan. Basically, as a distributor, SOA had to act as the physical, and informational, liaison between FHI and the 600 U.S. dealers when
it came to specific cars. In such a situation, of course, there are a variety of data that need to be managed and interconnected; there is sales, marketing, financial and
distribution information. There is also the logistics information thats necessary, including the providers, where theyre based, where they ship to, and so on. Keeping all of this information safe without
some kind of database management software - or system - is difficult. Subaru of America decided to rely on the Oracle Transportation
Management system which, according to the case study, "eliminated many time-consuming manual processes." The Time Management system worked with other Oracle software in the company to better handle production scheduling
and projects. Even more importantly, this system helped align shipments with production schedules. This was important, as it allowed track-and-trace capabilities, the quicker movement of priority shipments and improving on-time
delivery. It also helped on the forecasting front - because the Time Management system delivered the vehicles required by the dealership in the
